[ Thoughts on selling my boat ]

"Another tends her wheel now
A stranger hoists the main,
And I no longer watch her bow
Slice through the seas again.

And in the cabin cribbed, confined
An alien form now squirms.
Cursing her leaks in
Unrefined and sanguinary terms.

And yet a jolly girl is she,
Obedient swift and bold,
A beauty in her innocence
And not so very old.

And she has taught me
What deep joy
A little ship can bring,
More of a sweet heart than a toy
More like a living thing.

And so i hope he'll treat her well
Since I have been so rash,
My one and only love to sell,
For filthy lucre cash."
